Field Trip - MiresBall
Today we visited Jon Ball's advertising agency. His agency is not that far from downtown and is located in a neighborhood area which I thought was pretty cool. His place was very different from Ron's asthetic wise. It seemed bigger too but it fit Jon's personality. He talked a lot about his graphic design journey and showed us on a screen the clients he had worked with in the past. Later, he answered any questions that we had for him. A lot of us asked him about what to do when you're first starting out and he gave us a lot of valuable advice. The piece of advice that I found really useful was "don't be afraid to jump around from job to job until you find a place that you feel suits you." I found that to be reassuring advice because a lot of people settle in their careers and are afraid of change even if they would like a different atmosphere.
He later showed us the upper level of his business and I must say, it was beautiful. The layout was gorgeous and I loved his office and how he said his employees could all customize their cubicles. The lounge area looked very artsy and modern. There were plenty of books in the area's small library too. I know he said his place does very fast paced work, but I would love to work somewhere with that aesthetic in the future.
