The End of My Professional Practices Class - Thank You MaeLin!
I know we didn't have to post anything for the final class, but I just wanted to make a post to thank you for bringing this class back this semester. I'm so glad I decided to take it. I felt that the class helped us all learn more about the business side of design through the video lectures and field trips. The personal branding project was perfect because it's something all of us will be able to use in the future and not just pointless busy work. Everything we learned this semester is going to be super helpful for both me and my classmates that are going into portfolio next semester. It'll be my second shot at it, but I feel a lot more solid in who I am as a designer now than I did while I was still in Portfolio B.
I really appreciated how relaxed the last class was and how we were able to walk around visual asylum. I had been there once before back when Amy was teaching type 2. She had her final class there too so it was cool seeing the new stuff you guys had up on display.
I appreciated you showing us the mood boards and material boards for projects you were working on. It was awesome getting to see all of them and hear about the projects they were for. I really loved the horror stories you told us about past clients though. They were hilarious (my favorite one was the one about the janitor).
The thing I loved the most about this class were the field trips. It gave us all such a great opportunity to see how much talent is in San Diego and to get advice directly from the professionals in a safe environment. I mean, how often does that happen? I loved seeing how different everyone's businesses were and getting to see graphic design in action out in the real world. All of the field trips were really inspiring to me and make me want to work harder at becoming a great designer so I could eventually work somewhere that looks similar to Miresball or Hollis Brand Culture. Those places left me in awe because I love art, books, and have an appreciation for modern architecture. I would love to work somewhere that had ample resources for research as well as beautiful and inspirational decor to get my mind inspired.
Once again, thank you so much for this opportunity MaeLin. It was a pleasure being in your class and getting to know you!
P.S. If you ever need an intern, I'm here. Just thought I'd throw that out there :)
